Asuka 120% Limit Over Fan Translation Released

asuka-120-limited-burning-fest-frontAsuka 120% Limit Over is a modded version of the 1997 Japanese Sega Saturn fighting game Asuka 120% Limited BURNING Fest. The rumor is that the original development team was responsible for the patch that was circulated on the internet in Japan. Around 2007, some fans at Lost Levels’ forum discovered this mod and it slowly started making the rounds on the English speaking parts of the internet.

Now another fan has released an English fan translation for this mod. Essentially, all of the characters names are now in English so you can more easily select them via the in-game menus. They also documented their translation process fairly well.

You’ll still need a patched version of the original game in BIN/CUE format to apply the translation, but at least this game is now more accessible for the rest of the world.

Segagaga English Translation Still Alive!

It’s been almost two years since we’ve heard anything from the public domain English localization team working on the Dreamcast game Segagaga (SGGG). Originally started in 2006, the team behind the translation was faced with a difficult obstacle shortly into their work involving the font.

We’ve mainly lacked anyone capable of creating a patch with a half-width font to display an appropriate amount of text per dialogue box. Without a half-width font, any final product would be unsightly at best, unreadable and unusable at worst.

Today, they broke their silence with the announcement that they have found a programmer to help them overcome this and work has continued!

Programmer Geoff Embree (also known as Pokeytax) has come to our aid, bringing his prior experience with unofficial translation projects such as Suikogaiden Vol. 2 and Suikoden Card Stories. We’re extremely grateful for his taking initiative to contact us and get the ball rolling.

I am, personally, extremely excited by this news!

Thanks to SegaNerds for pointing us to it.

Ninpen Manmaru Translated

Alex Kid and Simon Fang have had success at translating Ninpen Manmaru for the Saturn! No, this is not a translated script, but an actual English patch for the game! This is not 100% finished, it’s still in beta form, so please do not bug these guys. It will be finished. Hopefully this will inspire more people to do the same for other Japanese Saturn games. Click here to check it out.

Thanks to SegaXtreme for the news
