Sega of America has announced that Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F is available from retailers on the PS3 and for download on PSN. This marks Miku’s first released title in the Western market.
SoA is saying that the Miku property is increasing in popularity in the West and points to her over 1 million fans on Facebook. I point to a bunch of younger ladies and guys who are into moe, goth, or lolli designs. I’m wondering how large of that audience is willing to actually purchase Miku, rather than express their interest in that art style. I guess we’ll find out in a couple of week when sales numbers are made public!
Regardless of my worries, Miku’s finally available for a North American console. It’s nice to see a very Japanese game like this make it over, when even very cool titles are having issues being localized. It’s so weird that a company worried about Westerners being able to understand hostess clubs is able to invest the money to release a game like this and let the consumer decide. Is anyone reading this going to be all over it?
They’ve also released a trailer which you can watch below.
